Through the month of April 2023, we shared stories from real people about their struggles and history with alcohol in honor of Alcohol Awareness Month 2023.
Started in April 1987, the main target of this program was originally college-aged students who might be drinking too much as part of their newfound freedom. It has since become a national movement to draw more attention to the causes and effects of alcoholism as well as how to help families and communities deal with drinking problems. The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and many other agencies try to increase their efforts to reach people who may not fully appreciate the dangers of unhealthy alcohol consumption.

Ignition interlock device customers tell us all the time that they wish they could go back to the day they got a DUI and make a different choice. Unfortunately they can't. But sometimes sharing their story with others helps in their journey.
