Happy New Year from the best interlock provider

POSTED ON: 12/27/2023

We hear it a lot - someone thought they were OK to drive but ended up getting a DUI and needing interlock services.

Learn from our breathalyzer customers: don't think you're OK to drive if you're not

If you’re wondering how many drinks you can have and legally drive, the best and safest answer is zero.

Find a safe way home from New Year's Eve celebrations

New Year's Eve can be really fun. Dressing up, kissing at midnight, fireworks, toasting to a year of health and luck, partying into the early morning... but however you celebrate, make sure it involves a safe way to get home.

If staying sober isn't your idea of a fun New Year's Eve celebration, make sure you find another way to avoid drunk driving. Have a plan BEFORE you start drinking. Your safe driving plan may include public transportation, a designated driver, a ridesharing service, or some other safe option.

Understand alcohol if you'll be using it

If you do drink a small amount of alcohol and plan to drive only after sobering up, make sure you understand the effects of alcohol on your body. Even a small amount of alcohol can still impact your driving. Alcohol level is measured by the weight of the alcohol in a certain volume of blood, and this is called BAC (blood alcohol content or concentration). Smart Start of Louisiana provides products that test a person’s alcohol level before allowing the vehicle to start. Many drivers are surprised when these life-saving devices detect a dangerous level of alcohol when the driver thought he was ok to drive. State laws vary when it comes to BAC or BrAC, but if you have even "just a few" drinks remember that it can take many hours (or even the next day) for the alcohol to leave your system. Buzzed driving is drunk driving

Happy New Year from Smart Start of Louisiana!

We want your holiday season to be happy. Driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs is illegal in all 50 states, as well as in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Don’t be part of the scary holiday DUI statistics. To find out how Smart Start of Louisiana is helping to separate drinking from driving, call us or fill out our contact form.
