If you've got an ignition interlock car device, we know it's a tempting thought...Is it possible to get around the ignition interlock device tests?
Let's go over this idea and talk about why attempting to circumvent or bypass the device is just not a great idea.
The way that ignition interlock technology works has been updated and refined throughout the years since the device’s development. With alcohol-specific, state of the art fuel cell technology, state-certified devices that also pass federal NHTSA standards will detect bypassing or circumvention attempts. Many states are also now using an add-on camera requirement. This feature, which was first introduced by Smart Start, helps to truly identify who is taking the test. So basically your chances of getting away with bypassing the device aren't very good.
First, let’s discuss the IID and its technology to help you better understand how it works. An ignition interlock car device (aka blow and go, car breathalyzer, blow device, etc.) must be installed into a driver’s vehicle following a DUI arrest and/or conviction. It can also be voluntarily installed to monitor the sobriety of drivers such as teens, alcoholics, and others. The driver cannot start the vehicle until he or she provides a passing breath sample into the device. The ignition interlock device measures the breath alcohol concentration level or BrAC.
The best way to "be done with" your device is to simply comply with your interlock program. Attempting to get around the ignition interlock device tests will only cause you headaches and more consequences.
It’s not a good idea to attempt to circumvent or bypass your ignition interlock device tests. With the way your program works, it’s easy to detect users not complying with their requirements properly. In many areas, you can face heavy consequences such as more fines, a longer time with your automobile IID, a more severe suspension or revocation of your license, or even jail time. It's not worth taking the chance.
